SUBJECT:

Approval of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Pierce and the Teamsters Local Union #769 for the period of October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2020.

SUMMARY:

Approval of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the City of Fort Pierce and the Teamsters Local Union #769 for the period of October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2020.  The attached CBA was ratified by the union membership on July 22, 2019 and is now being submitted to the City Commission for approval.

The Union CBA contained a "Me-Too" clause which the Teamsters Local Union #769 attempted to utilize to obtain lower insurance costs for their members.  The Teamsters subsequently decided to take the issue to arbitration, thereby delaying negotiations.  The ratified contract includes the three percent (3%) salary increase as well as a certification incentive for their parts employees in the Public Works Department.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of Collective Bargaining Agreement.

ALTERNATIVES:

Proceed as recommended by the City Commission.
