SUBJECT:

Request approval of Change Order No. 8 with CWR Contracting, Inc.,  for the reconstruction of Avenue A and Avenue B from 7th Street to 8th Street in the total amount of $351,634.96.

SUMMARY:

This request is to utilize a continuing services agreement that the city has entered into with CWR Contracting, Inc. of Okeechobee, Florida.  The work will entail the reconstruction of the roadway subgrade, base and surface, including the replacement of the curb  and gutter.  The sidewalk (one side only) and the driveway aprons will also be replaced.  This work will follow the completion of the water main replacement project the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority has currently under construction.  The joint project will share the cost of construction three ways between the City, Stormwater Management Utility and the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority.  The total cost of the roadway reconstruction will be $351,634.96.

RECOMMENDATION:

Engineering recommends approval of this change order.

ALTERNATIVES:

Require FPUA to patch existing pavement upon completion of the water main replacement project.
