SUBJECT:

Approval of request to award the Citrus Avenue Bridge Repairs construction contract to the low bidder, M & J Construction Company of Pinellas County, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $1,062,927.80.

SUMMARY:

The 66-year old Citrus Avenue Bridge has been assessed by FDOT and deemed to have significant deficiencies, as such repairs are required both to the bridge deck and structural members.  The proposed construction services will address the identified deficiences while also providing maintenance on the existing structural steel components.
  
Eight bidders responded to the invitation to bid with M & J Construction Company of Pinellas County, Inc. providing the lowest and best bid in the amount of $1,062,927.80.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval

Don't award the contract and re-bid the project in hopes of obtaining lower bids

FISCAL IMPACT:

The $1,062,927.80 shall be encumbered from General Fund Account No. 001-6000-513-63-10 in the amount of $400,000.00 and SurTax funding in the amount of $662,927.80 (Road and Bridge Account No. 100-1111-519-63-10).
