SUBJECT:
Approval to submit and accept the 2014-2015 U.S. Department of Justice, Edward Byrne Memorial, Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) (County-wide) in the amount of $37,159.
SUMMARY:
The Police Department requests approval to submit and accept the 2014-2015 Edward Byrne Memorial, JAG (county-wide) application in the amount of $37,159. There is no local match requirement.
The JAG (county-wide) program is a U.S. Department of Justice formula grant program that is administered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Funding may be used to support crime prevention and suppression activities. Historically, the police department has used this grant to support the Gang Abatement and Reduction Initiative by partially funding the salary and benefits for one Crime Analyst position. The total estimated salary and benefit cost for one crime analyst is $65,547. The balance of $28,388 will be budgeted in account #101.0000.381.0100.
