SUBJECT:
Ordinance 14-018 - Right-of-way Abandonment - Boston Avenue Extension – East of South Indian River Drive. SECOND READING
SUMMARY:
•The applicants are requesting the abandonment of a portion of City owned Right-of-way known as Boston Avenue, located between South Indian River Drive and the Indian River.
•The request is filed concurrent to the preparation of expansion plans for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy.
•The Planning Board, at their May 13th, 2014 meeting, voted unanimously to recommend approval of the abandonment with the recommended conditions of Staff and the exchange of the subject right-of-way with a 15’ pedestrian access easement along the water front, from Melody Lane to the southern boundary of Boston Avenue.
•The City of Fort Pierce Commission, at their August 4th, 2014 meeting voted 3-2 to direct staff to prepare and advertise a revised draft of Ordinance 14-018 to include the specified provisions.
•St. Andrew's Episcopal Academy has agreed to provide payment in the amount of $110,000 to the City of Fort Pierce to complete improvements to the proposed Public Access Parcel.
•The revised Ordinance 14-018, containing the specified provisions, is being presented to the City Commission for First Reading.
