Quasi-Judicial Hearing - Review and approval of an application for Conditional Use with No New Construction submitted by property owner, Wynne Building Corporation, and applicant, Danay Navarro, for Conditional Use to operate a Before and After School Childcare Program. The property is located at and is zoned General Commercial (C-3).

SUMMARY:

  • The applicant is requesting the review and approval of a Conditional Use to operate a Childcare Facility at Del Rio Plaza, located at 4812 S. US Highway 1. The subject property is a 26,820 sq. ft. retail shopping plaza. The proposed Childcare Facility will occupy an approximate 2,000 sq. ft. commercial bay within Del Rio Plaza. The proposed Conditional Use will offer before and after-school childcare for children ages five to twelve years old. The Skyline Childcare Facility will provide homework assistance, story times, computer education, games, recreational dancing, arts and crafts, and learning activities.

RECOMMENDATION:

The proposed use presents the provision of a Childcare Facility/Daycare Center to the general public, representing a limited commercial use that is compatible with the surrounding neighborhood, and is generally consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code with appropriate restrictions. Therefore, Staff recommends APPROVAL of the Conditional Use with No New Construction.
