- Approval of Professional Funding for the Avenue D Engineering Design

SUBJECT:
Approval of funding in the amount of $92,575 for professional design services to be provided by Engineering Design & Construction, Inc. (EDC).
SUMMARY:
The Avenue D roadway between U.S. Highway 1 and 29th Street is slated to be milled and resurfaced, along with the removal of the existing brick paver crosswalks and subsequent construction of new stamped asphalt crosswalks. Avenue D between U.S. Highway 1 and Indian River Drive is to receive a complete reconstruction with a new roadway, curb & gutter, sidewalks, crosswalks, drainage improvements, raised plateau intersection at 2nd Street, decorative streetlights, ADA upgrades, landscape, and irrigation. Once funding is approved, a Specific Authorization will be forwarded to the City Commission for approval to authorize the work in accordance with the conditions specified in RFQ 2019-027 and the associated master contract executed by EDC and the City of Fort Pierce.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
ALTERNATIVES:
Deny and negotiate a price with another continuing service provider chosen under RFQ 2019-027 selection.
