SUBJECT:

Resolution No. 20-R54 and Quasi-Judicial Hearing – A hearing to allow the owners and/or parties of interest in the property identified as 1909 N 16th Street to show cause why the structure located on the premises should not be condemned and demolished.

SUMMARY:

  1. Condemnation initiated in January 2018.
  2. Building permit applied for in November 2018 and issued in March 2019.
  3. A portion of the building was demolished in August 2019, leaving 3 walls standing.
  4. Permit expired in February 2020 due to no additional work or inspections being completed.
  5. Permit renewed in March 2020.
  6. Permit expired in September 2020 due to no work or inspections being completed.
  7. Hearing before City Commission to schedule demolition hearing held on October 19, 2020.
  8. Permit renewed on October 23, 2020.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Commission approve Resolution No. 20-R54 declaring that the structure located at 1909 N 16th Street be condemned and demolished in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for Condemnation and Demolition as adopted by the City Commission.
