SUBJECT:
2020 Parking Study Update presented by Walker Consultants.
SUMMARY:
On June 8, 2020, by consensus the City Commission approved the Parking Committee's recommendation to have Walker Consultants update the 2016 Parking Study. On July 29, 2020, the City Commission approved the proposal submitted by Walker Consultants to complete the study. The 2016 report incorporated an analysis of the downtown central business district and south beach. The update to the existing report reflects the current conditions, inclusive of the impacts of the development of the HD King site and it includes two additional areas of the city for study, Lincoln Park and the Peacock Arts District. The Parking Committee has reviewed the report and their recommendations are attached.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the recommendations included in the 2020 Parking Study Update conducted by Walker Consultants. In addition, approval is sought to direct staff to develop a plan to implement the proposals.
ALTERNATIVES:
Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
