Service agreement with Sunrise Humane Society

SUBJECT:

Approval of the service agreement between the City of Fort Pierce and the Sunrise Humane Society for shelter and care of all domestic animals impounded by Animal Control or dropped off by residents from within the City of Fort Pierce, for a term of one (1) year with four (4) automatic renewals.

SUMMARY:

The primary terms of the service agreement include:
  • The board and care for all domestic animals, with minor exceptions, brought to the shelter by Animal Control or Law Enforcement personnel or by citizens of the City of Fort Pierce.
  • Provides for appropriate medical care, vaccinations, sterlizations and emergency veterinary services.
  • Identifies special circumstances that require additional care, including special holds, disposal of decease animals and rabies testing.
  • Provides for the collection of impound fees, animal registration issuance and monthly reporting requirements.
  • Provides for unannounced inspections, procedures for resolving any deficiencies and penalties for failure to comply.
  • Allows for termination either with or without cause and links the service agreement to the lease of the facility.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the service agreement as presented.

Amend the service agreement.
Reject the service agreement as presented.
