SUBJECT:
Resolution 21-R46 Establishing a Special Election in the City of Fort Pierce.
SUMMARY:
Article III, Section 28, of the City Charter entitled "Filling of Vacancies" states: "At the time the vacancy occurs, if there is more than six (6) months before the next general election, a special election shall be set as early as legally possible and no temporary appointment shall take place"
Article VI, Section 52(h), of the City Charter states "Special municipal elections for any purpose shall be held in the same manner as a regular election except the city commission, by resolution or by ordinance, shall fix the date of holding such special election, the office to be balloted upon and a qualifying period for candidates, or the question to be balloted upon."
