SUBJECT:
Communitywide Council recommendations to the City Commission regarding amending the 2014-2015 CDBG Action Plan
SUMMARY:
The Communitywide Council met August 20 and September 10, 2014 to hear and consider public comments then make recommendations to the City Commission concerning amending the 2014-2015 CDBG Action Plan.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Communitywide Council have thoughtfully considered the public comments made during our August meeting and have revisited the 2014-2015 CDBG Action Plan allocations and is reaffirming its support for the original allocations, as previously approved, and recommends the approval of the original Plan by the City Commission.

- $100,000 previously approved for Code Enforcement in the 2014-2015 Action Plan remain. However, the majority of the funds be used to remediate dilapidated, vacant structures and clear lots. It was further recommended that the City of Fort Pierce hire Fort Pierce based businesses or coordinate with organizations that utilize young people from the targeted census tracts to perform these tasks.
- Amend the Commercial Façade grant program to primarily benefit property owners in targeted census tracts, and remove cash match previously required for grants.
- Establish a mechanism to incorporate Code Enforcement nuisance abatement hard costs into property taxes of the individual property owner.
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not accept the Communitywide Council recommendations.
