Lincoln Park Neighborhood Improvements Change Order No. 1

SUBJECT:

Request approval of Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $44,416.40 as submitted by Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc.

SUMMARY:

This request will provide compensation for the removal of 360 LF of decrepit 18" clay drainage pipe and the installation of 360 LF of 18" reinforced concrete drainage pipe within the North 9th Street right-of-way, just north of Avenue C.  During construction of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood improvements the contractor discovered significant pavement failures due to the failing storm collection system.  An in-depth inspection uncovered the existing system's deterioration.  This change order will cover all costs associated with the installation of the new pipe.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

ALTERNATIVES:

Leave existing pipe in place and risk additional costs associated with repair of the looming road failure.
