Indian Hills Recreation Area - Phase II

SUBJECT:

Request change order to accomplish Phase II of construction for the Indian Hills Recreation Area.

SUMMARY:

Engineering is requesting approval of Change Order No. 1 to Paul Jacquin and Sons, Inc. existing contract for Phase I of the Indian Hills Recreation Area to enable construction of Phase II of the project.  Design for Phase II has been completed and construction can begin immediately.  This work will include the reestablishment of the wetlands on the south side of Savannah Road.  Extensive clearing, earthwork and wetland plantings will be accomplished.  Also included in this phase will be a canoe launching facility / docks, nature trail, which will include five pedestrian bridges and a pervious paver parking area all on the south side of Savannah Road.  Additional recreational amenities will also be added including fitness equipment along the walking trail on the north side, picnic shelters both north and south of Savannah Road and a connecting path between the north and the south improvements.  The amount of Change Order No. 1 is $2,240,705.00 and will be funded by the Florida Communities Trust Grant that was obtained by St. Lucie County.

RECOMMENDATION:

Engineering recommends approval of Change Order No. 1 pending City Attorney approval.

Re-bid Phase II of the project.
