SUBJECT:
Request authorization to contract with Ardaman and Associates, Inc. for materials testing and construction engineering inspection services in an amount not to exceed $18,130.
SUMMARY:
Extensive materials testing and structural engineering inspections are required as a prelude to the final project certification. Staff's original intent was to utilize the design firm for this phase of the project, but we were unable to come to terms with the consultant on the final professional fee and were forced to discard the quote and proceed to another consultant or advertise for an RFQ. This commission is aware that a significant portion of the project funding is grant derived and is time sensitive. Do to the time constraints staff is unable to proceed with a formal RFQ process and therefore we obtained quotes. Ardaman's quote is significantly less than the original quote submitted by the design consultant and also happens to be within the allowable budget for this phase of the project.
RECOMMENDATION:
Award of the $18,130.00 materials testing and CEI services to Ardaman & Associates.

Discard and request a quote from another firm.
