SUBJECT:

Approval for the police department to purchase thirty-five (35) laptop computers for field personnel in the total amount of $50,379.00.

SUMMARY:

Field personnel utilize laptop computers for a variety of functions, including but not limited to, Computer Aided Dispatch, Report Writing, Citations, and accessing various databases. The Police Department currently has 35 computer laptops that are beyond their useful life. Their operating system (XP) is no longer supported by Microsoft which has created numerous issues with various computer software application the department uses.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the approval of this purchase order request.

ALTERNATIVES:

There are no other alternatives as laptop computers are required equipment for field personnel.
