Approval to execute a Certificate of Acceptance for a Justice Assistance Grant Award (JAG: 2021-JAGC-STLU-1-3B-156) for $26,627.00 (no match required) for Law Enforcement Technology.

The Fort Pierce Police Department was awarded $26,627.00 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to be utilized to upgrade the Police Department's Training Room and the Chiefs' Conference Room through the purchase and installation of electronic equipment to upgrade both locations and produce a Smart Training Room along with an Executive Training and Emergency Operations/Media Release Room.  Through the use of interactive computer technology and video conferencing capabilities, the Police Department will increase its ability to train staff using the newest software and enhance real-time communications with outside entities to include the public, media, and the Saint Lucie County Emergency Operations Center.  The Certificate of Acceptance has been approved for form and correctness by Tanya Early, City Attorney. 

 

Staff recommends acceptance of the award of grant funds.

The Commission may choose not to accept funding.
