SUBJECT:
Quasi-Judicial Hearing continued from September 19, 2022 - Review and approval of an application for a Conditional Use submitted by Tillman Infrastructure, Inc and applicant Telsula Morgan to build a 160-foot monopole communication tower at 1601 N. 25TH Street Fort Pierce FL 34957. Parcel ID: 2404-608-0095-050-9
SUMMARY:
- The applicant is seeking a Conditional Use with New Construction & Design Review approval to construct a telecommunications tower at 1601 N 25th Street.
- The structure that is proposed is a one hundred and sixty (160) foot slim pole communications tower. The property is zoned C-3, General Commercial with a Future Land-Use of RM, Medium Density Residential.
- The property is located at the northwest corner of 25th Street and Avenue O. The surrounding uses are medium density residential to the north, south and west and commercial to the east.
- The applicant will provide an eight (8) foot tall wood fence that will shield the site from the right of way and from nearby properties.
- The pole is designed to have a fall zone so that in the event of structural failure the pole would buckle in on itself and fall and remain on the parent tract.
RECOMMENDATION:
The proposed use offers a provision of a wireless communication tower representing a limited commercial use that is compatible with the surrounding neighborhood and is generally consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code with appropriate restrictions. Therefore, Staff recommends APPROVAL WITH THE CONDITION that the applicant find a way to use a design that camouflages the pole.
