SUBJECT:
Approval and acceptance of the 2022 BJA FY 22 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program in the amount of $22,111.00 and authorization to execute the Certification and Assurances by the Chief Executive of the Applicant Government. The Chief Executive is defined by the Bureau of Justice Administration as the City Mayor.
SUMMARY:
The Department has tentatively been awarded the funding opportunity entitled 2022 BJA FY 22 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. The approved award amount is $22,111.00. A requirement to accepting the award is the approval of the "Certification and Assurances by the Chief Executive of the Applicant Government." The Bureau of Justice Administration defines the Chief Executive as the City Mayor.
This is a non-matching grant and will fund Law Enforcement technology expenses, specifically a one 20 terabyte Network Area Storage Device, two Network Switches, and required cables. These devices will supplement and replace current aging items and provide enhanced data management capabilities.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the "Certification and Assurances by the Chief Executive of the Applicant Government."
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not approve the Certification of the Chief Executive; subsequently, funds will not be awarded, and other sources of funding for the needed items will need to be obtained.
