SUBJECT:
Approve transfer from the Clean & Safe Community Initiative restricted fund to the Fort Pierce Animal Adoption Center budget to cover veterinary costs in the amount of $200,000.00.
SUMMARY:
- Since October 2022, all veterinary services have been outsourced to local veterinarians, who assisted with providing care to the animals.
- The majority of veterinary care, including sterilization surgeries that are required by state statute for all adopted animals, have been performed by VCA/Tri-County.
- The cost of veterinary care exceeded the amount provided in the FY 2024 budget.
- Per Resolution No. 22-R37, providing for the humane care of the animals housed at the FPAAC is an allowable expense of CSI funds.
- A transfer to cover past veterinary service costs and to cover veterinary services through the end of the fiscal year is required.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approving the transfer of $200,000.00 from the Clean & Safe restricted fund to the FPAAC budget.
