SUBJECT:
Approval to purchase mitigation credits from Bear Point Mitigation Bank in the amount of $32,000.00 to satisfy Army Corp of Engineer's Notice of Violation.
SUMMARY:
To satisfy the Army Corp of Engineer's (ACOE) Notice of Violation, it is required that the city purchase mitigation credits from an approved mitigation bank. The city is proposing to purchase 0.2 credits for mangroves from the Bear Point Mitigation Bank which is managed by St. Lucie County. This purchase will satisfy the compensatory mitigation that failed to meet success criteria mandated by the ACOE.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the 0.2 credits necessary to cure the Notice of Violation from the ACOE.
ALTERNATIVES:
Risk further action from the ACOE.
