SUBJECT:
Approval to utilize FPUA's unit price contract with Mastec North America, Inc. and authorize Mastec to proceed with the electrical relocation work along Indian River Drive in an amount not to exceed $194,740.94.
SUMMARY:
On August 30, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis awarded the City of Fort Pierce a $2.7 million Florida Job Growth Grant to assist with the funding of infrastructure improvements along Indian River Drive, Avenue, B, and AE Backus Avenue. As a prerequisite to the impending Indian River Drive roadway construction, all utility relocation work is required to be completed. Therefore, in an effort to minimize time and project cost, staff is requesting contracting directly with FPUA's Unit Price contractor, Mastec North America, for services relating to the electrical relocation work.
Contractor will be compensated utilizing FPRA funds with full reimbursement via the Florida Job Growth Infrastructure Grant, DEO Grant No. G0100.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval to piggyback FPUA's contract with Mastec.
ALTERNATIVES:
Deny and bid the electrical work, which in turn may delay the start of the Indian River Drive roadway reconstruction project.
