SUBJECT:
Request award of the 13th Street Roadway Improvements construction contract to the low bidder, Guettler Brothers Construction, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $1,039,864.75.
SUMMARY:
Of the two (2) respondents replying to the City's Request for Construction Bids, Guettler Construction submitted the lowest bid. The proposed work includes upgrades to the existing storm drainage, water, and sanitary sewer infrastructure along with the construction of curb and gutters, sidewalks, driveways and roadway reconstruction. The construction will extend along North 13th Street from Moore's Creek to Avenue E.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends award of the construction contract to the low bidder, Guettler Construction, LLC.
ALTERNATIVES:
Award the contract to the other bidder or re-bid the project.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding of the $1,039,864.75 roadway construction project will be obtained from the following accounts: $232,059.17 from the City's General fund and an initial encumbrance of $807,805.58 from SMU Account No. 403-4300-538-34-90 with a subsequent FPUA reimbursement in the amount of $441,704.42 ($95,746.42 contribution for joint road work and $345,958.00 water/sewer/electric construction costs).
