SUBJECT:
SUMMARY:
The Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency (FPRA) recognizes the importance of restoring and developing the Old St. Anastasia Catholic School, a cherished historical landmark in Fort Pierce. Built in 1914, this building holds significant architectural value and stands as a testament to the area's rich heritage. Recently, the exterior of the building has been meticulously restored to its original appearance, preserving its historical integrity. The building, along with its surrounding property, presents a unique opportunity for adaptive reuse that respects its historical significance while meeting contemporary community needs.
Under an existing Continuing Services contract, the consultant Cotleur & Hearing will develop a comprehensive master plan for the Old St. Anastasia Building and two adjacent properties located at 910 Orange Avenue. As part of this effort, the consultant will perform site assessments and surveys, prepare a detailed master plan, and produce alternative design concepts and visual renderings for review by the City and FPRA.
The planning effort aims to preserve and enhance the historic character of the Old St. Anastasia building while exploring development opportunities that will maximize the site's value to the community. The consultant will collaborate closely with the City, FPRA, and associated subconsultants to address historic preservation considerations, site feasibility, and future development potential.
This request for specific authorization is also scheduled to go before the City Commission on May 19, 2025, for their approval.
