SUBJECT:
Resolution No. 17-R13 Approving a Locally Funded Agreement With FDOT for Pedestrian Lighting on Observation Deck for the Peter P. Cobb Memorial Bridge.
SUMMARY:
This is a request of the City Commission for approval of two agreements and funding allocation for the installation of pedestrian lighting along the proposed rehabilitated observation decks on the Peter P. Cobb Memorial Bridge. As part of the $7,921,268.00 work being contracted by FDOT for bridge rehabilitation, the City requested FDOT to provide pedestrian lighting on the observation decks. FDOT has provided the engineering design but is requiring the City to fund the labor and material costs of the lighting. The City's share is estimated to be $302,753.00. The lighting design includes 38 lights, associated wiring, conduit and two lighting control panels.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation is to enter into agreement with FDOT for the installation of the lighting.
ALTERNATIVES:
Provide no lighting on observation decks.

FISCAL IMPACT:
FDOT requires 50% ($151,376.50) due upon execution of agreement. Balance will be from next fiscal year made payable by October 6, 2017. Funds are currently available.
