SUBJECT:
Approve the purchase of one (1) Exchange Server (Power Edge R730) and one hundred and forty-seven (147) licenses from Dell Computers, Round Rock, TX, piggyback State Contract #WN08AGW, Agreement #43211500-WSCA-15-ACS, in the amount not to exceed $18,462.79.
SUMMARY:
The Police Department requests approval to purchase one Exchange Server (Power Edge R730) and the one hundred and forty-seven (147) licenses. The Exchange Server is a mail server that operates the police department's Active Directory system that centrally manages, routes, maintains, and backs up all of the police department's email accounts. This purchase will replace the existing five year old Exchange Server that has come to the end of its life expectancy.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of this request.
ALTERNATIVES:
The alternative is to transition to a Cloud Base system; however, the Police Department researched this system, which would be less cost effective.
