SUBJECT:
Approve the purchase of two (2) Managed Switches ($6,755.00) and three (3) Storage Area Network Servers ($8,055.00), piggyback U.S. Communities IT Products & Service Contract #4400006644 from Insight Public Sector, Tempe, AZ, in the amount not to exceed $14,810.00.
SUMMARY:
The Police Department requests approval to purchase two (2) Managed Switches and three (3) Storage Area Network Servers (SANS), which will replace existing Switches and SANS that have come to the end of their life expectancy. A Managed Switch enables devices in hard-to-reach, outdoor, and remote areas to interface/network with one another. A SANS simplifies information life cycle management and plays a critical role in delivering a consistent and secure data transfer infrastructure. The advantages of a SANS includes storage virtualization, high-speed disk technologies, centralization of back-ups, and dynamic fail over protection by consolidating information into one easily accessible location.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of this request.
