SUBJECT:
Approve the following contributions: $1,000 to the 31st National Conference on Preventing Crime in the Black Community through the Derrick Brooks Foundation, $1,000 to the In the Image of Christ, Incorporated, $1,000 to the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children Incorporated, $500 to the Roundtable of St. Lucie County, $1,000 to Creating Tomorrow's Leaders, $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, and $10,000 to the Fort Pierce Athletic League ($5,000 for the Ball and $5,000 for Dancing with Pal) from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
SUMMARY:
According to Florida State Statute 932.7055, the police department is required to spend twenty-five percent (25%) of Law Enforcement Trust Fund revenues from forfeitures and seizures each year in support of crime prevention activities. The requested contributions will be applied to meet the obligation for FY 2017 and provide meaningful support to community based activities. This expenditure meets the requirements of Florida State Statute 932.7055.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the contributions requested.
