SUBJECT:
Request for letter in support of redevelopment of Brownfield Site ID #BF560702001 located at 1150 South U.S. Highway 1, Ft. Pierce, FL 34950 (Parcel 2415-602-0002-000-2)
SUMMARY:
- The subject site was previously declared a Brownfield, with previous remediation efforts taking place on-site.
- The Property Owners, LGFTP I LLC, completed additional soil tests upon acquisition of the property, in preparation for future development. Upon findings of contamination, potentially a rebound situation, the applicant has engaged coordiantion for the Floride Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to explore resolution.
- The FDEP is exploring the option to reopen the previous Brownfield, and treat the found contamination as a potential rebound situation, subject to additional testing in the near term.
- The property owners are requesting a letter of support from the City, to further this effort to finalize clean-up of the site.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the attached letter of support.
ALTERNATIVES:
Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.

OTHER INFORMATION:
There is not fiscal impact to the City of Fort Pierce, as it does not present any commitment of resources.
