SUBJECT:
Approval of the 2017 Bullet Proof Vest Program (BVP) Blanket Purchase Order Request in an amount not to exceed $30,396.08.
SUMMARY:
The police department has submitted an application for the 2017 Bulletproof Vest Program (BVP) and has received an award. The police department is now requesting approval to establish a blanket purchase order in the amount not to exceed $30,396.08. The approval of this purchase order will allow the police department to move forward with the purchase of fifty-two (52) new bulletproof vests over the life of the award. These vests will be for new hires and replace vests that have expired.
The BVP award is for a total of $15,198.04, and requires a 50% match from the City's General Fund, totaling $30,396.08 that can be used for purchasing.

RECOMMENDATION:
The police department recommends that this request be approved.
ALTERNATIVES:
The alternative would be to decline the award and forfeit the purchase of the bullet resistant vests for its new offices as well as its current officers that are wearing vests that have expired.
