SUBJECT:
Approve an execution of a Project Agreement between the City of Fort Pierce and NRCS in the amount of $4,265,778.00 for canal bank stabilization of the Virginia Avenue Outfall Canal and the Mayflower Canal.
SUMMARY:
The effects of Hurricane Irma caused severe erosion and canal bank failures along Mayflower Canal and the Virginia Avenue Outfall Canal. NRCS has approved funding for the repair and stabilization of these areas under the Federal Government's Emergency Watershed Protection in the amount of $2,908,485 (75% of estimated construction cost) along with a 10% engineering/administrative fund of $387,798 for a total grant funding of $3,296,283. The agreement requires a 25% construction match of $969,495 that will be garnished from the City's Stormwater Management Utility fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends execution of the NRCS Agreement
