SUBJECT:

Quasi-Judicial Hearing and Resolution No. 18-R28 - A  hearing to allow the owners and/or parties of interest in the property identified as 1700 N 16th Street to show cause why the structure located on the premises should not be condemned and demolished.

SUMMARY:

  1. The structure located at 1700 N 16th Street was declared unsafe under the International Property Maintenance Code by Building Investigor Shaun Coss on 1/29/2018.
  2. The building permit issued on 3/31/2011 expired without the work being completed on 12/27/2011.
  3. No attempt has been made by the owner to complete the repairs for six years.
  4. No attempt has been made by the owner to stabilize or rehabilitate the attached carport / front porch.
  5. The property owner, Vincent T. Benjamin, was sent a Notice of Unsafe Building on February 28, 2018 and the signed green card was received on March 13, 2018.
  6. No contact has been made by the owner in response to the Notice of Unsafe Building.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Commission approve Resolution No. 18-R28 declaring that the structure located at 1700 N 16th Street be condemned and demolished in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for Condemnation and Demolition as adopted by the City Commission.

ALTERNATIVES:

Amend Resolution No. 18-R28.
Deny Resolution No. 18-R28.
