SUBJECT:

Approve award of the RFP No. 2020-015, Aquatic Vegetative Control and Lake Maintenance contract to Kerner LLC DBA Kerner Environmental, Stuart, FL in an amount not to exceed $126,750.

SUMMARY:

There is overgrown vegetation in the canals, canal banks and around outfalls that currently hinders the flow of stormwater discharge. The work associated with this contract includes the aquatic and ditch bank vegetative control to manage the unwanted vegetation in the canals as well as control terrestrial weeds growing on banks adjacent to water in the drainage canals, bio-swales and outfalls. This contract also includes a lake maintenance program for the Indian Hills retention pond and wetlands, Veterans Memorial Park pond, and North 2nd Street ponds.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the award of the contract to Kerner LLC DBA Kerner Environmental, for two years with three (3) one-year renewal options at no increase in price, if mutually agreed upon in writing by both parties, subject to the same terms and conditions set forth in the contract.

ALTERNATIVES:

Award to the next favorable proposer, Aquatic Vegetation Control, Inc.
