SUBJECT:

Approval for to purchase law enforcement technology with a grant received from the Department of Justice to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus in the amount of $80,404.00 with no required match.

SUMMARY:

The Fort Pierce Police Department received a grant from the Department of Justice ($80,404) to purchase law enforcement technology.  Approval and acceptance of the grant by the City Commissioners was granted at the 4/11/20 regular commission meeting, (agenda item 11c).  The grant does not require a match.  The Department of Justice has approved the purchase of law enforcement technology to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus by the Fort Pierce Police Department.  

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the approval of this grant-funded purchase (no match required).

ALTERNATIVES:

Disapprove purchase request, awarded grant funds will not be received.
