Re
Change Order No. 1 to Bellingham Marine in the Amount of $11,832.60
Submitted For:
John Andrews

SUBJECT:

Approval of Change Order No. 1 to Bellingham Marine in the amount of $11,832.60  to change the Marina electrical pedestal breakers from standard breakers to a 30 milliampere instantaneous trip breaker pending approval by the City Attorney.

SUMMARY:

A change to the national electrical code and a requirement of the City’s electrical specification has created a condition (nuisance tripping) that marinas have not had to deal with in the past. The system that was provided by the electrical equipment manufacture meets the requirements of the 2011 National Electric Code and the manufactures requirements to receive a UL listing for its products and the City’s specifications. This change will allow the electrical system to meet all of the code and specification requirements while allowing for an isolated shut down of an individual pedestal versus shutting down the main electrical Substation to the individual dock under a ground fault current that exceeds 30 milliampere. This change will also reduce the amount of nuisance tripping of the main Substation panels caused by excessive ground fault current leakage.
