SUBJECT:
Legislative Hearing - Ordinance 21-011 Amending Chapter 103, Article II, Administrative Amendments to the Florida Building Code, 7th Edition (2020). FIRST READING
SUMMARY:
Local governments are authorized per Florida Statute Section 553.73(4)(a) to adopt administrative amendments to clarify and aid in the enforcement of the Florida Building Code, as long as these amendments do not weaken or diminish the code itself. The Administrative Chapter 1 is based upon a model developed by the Building Officials' Association of Florida and was further refined by the City of Fort Pierce. No changes to the current fee schedule, or level of activity required to enforce the Florida Building Code are anticipated as a result of this ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Building Department recommends approval of Ordinance 21-011 Amending Chapter 103, Article II, Administrative Amendments to the Florida Building Code, 7th Edition (2020).
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not approve the ordinance at this time.
