SUBJECT:
Legislative Hearing - Ordinance 21-031 amending the Comprehensive Plan to incorporate a Property Rights Element as required by Florida Statutes. FIRST READING
SUMMARY:
This Comprehensive Plan Amendment (Text Amendment) is being proposed consistent with Section 163.3177(6)(i)2, Florida Statutes (Chapter 2021-195, Laws of Florida), which requires a local government to adopt and include a property rights element in its Comprehensive Plan for any proposed plan amendment initiated after July 1, 2021. To this end, Staff has drafted the “Property Rights Element” with Goal 12.1, Objective 12.1.1.1, and (4) Policies mirroring language proposed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval and Transmittal.
ALTERNATIVES:
Denial.
