SUBJECT:
Approval to provide a letter of support and partner with Incubate Neighborhood Center to submit a U.S. Economic Development Administration Economic Adjustment Assistance grant to create an incubator for business and a commercial kitchen.
SUMMARY:
Incubate Neighborhood Center seeks to partner with the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency in applying for a U.S. Economic Development Administration Economic Adjustment Assistance grant in the amount of $2,000,000. The funds will be used to retrofit 15,000 out of the 26,000 square foot Means Court Center for a Business and Kitchen Incubator. The Business Incubator will contain: a classroom, two conference rooms, mailroom, break room, recording, T.V. production, coding and podcast studios, shared workspaces, individual offices, and elevator. The Kitchen Incubator will be a commercial kitchen that has the equipment and capacity to help business grow. The space will be equipped with tools for food-based start-ups to take idea from concept to reality. The project is expected to cost $2,000,000.00. The organization has secured the 20% required match from a private donor. There will be no financial contribution required of the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
