SUBJECT:

Resolution No. 21-R66 requiring electronic filing of campaign finance reports for all local candidates and political committees utilizing the Supervisor of Elections' electronic filing system.

SUMMARY:

Under the provisions of Section 106.07(2)(a)2., Florida Statutes, the City Commission of the City of Fort Pierce is authorized to require electronic filing, as provided for in Chapter 106, Florida Statutes, of candidates for elective office required to qualify for office with the City Clerk of the City of Fort Pierce.   The City Clerk has been requiring candidates to utilize the Supervisor of Elections' electronic filing system since 2016.  This resolution seeks to formalize that process and remove any question as to the City Clerk's ability to require candidates and committees to utilize the Supervisor of Elections' electronic filing system as the City's means of requiring and accepting electronic filing.   The use of this electronic system provides greater transparency and easy public access to all campaign finance information in one centralized location for our community.

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt Resolution 21-R66
