SUBJECT:

Waiver of interest and penalties in the amount of $437.78 for lot clearing lien totaling $508.31 against 514 N 26th Street, Ft. Pierce, FL previously owned by Lois Mitchell (Est) and Theresa Spears, 2636 SW Ann Arbor Road, Port St. Lucie, FL 34953 and currently owned by Jasmine L. Wimes, 1012 N 22nd Street, Ft. Pierce, FL 34950 in consideration of payment of $70.53 payable in 60 days.

SUMMARY:

Jasmine L. Wimes has submitted a request to waive interest, penalties, and administrative fees in the amount of $437.78 leaving a balance due of $70.53.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends waiving interest, penalties, and administrative fees of $437.78leaving a balance of $70.53 payable in 60 days.

Recommendation is based on:
  1. Ms. Wimes inherited this property from her parents who received the property through the previous owner's will.
  2. Ms. Wimes is a full time student and works part time. 
  3. She has brought the property taxes current and has been maintaining the property since becoming the owner.
  4. She is requesting the reduction of lien so she can continue to take care of the property without additional penalties.

ALTERNATIVES:

  1. Deny request.
  2. Determine alternative amount.
