SUBJECT:

Approve the Emergency Purchase of Elevator Door Locking Monitoring Devices from KONE Inc., Orlando FL, in the amount of $85,935.48.

SUMMARY:

The elevators located at City Hall, Old City Hall, Sunrise Theatre, and FPPD Substation were installed prior to 2008 and are required to be retrofitted with a door lock monitoring system. These elevator locking systems must be updated by December 31, 2023, to remain in compliance with ASME A17.3-2015 – Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators.

RECOMMENDATION:

The Public Works Department recommends approval of this emergency purchase.

ALTERNATIVES:

Staff will proceed as directed by City Commission.
