SUBJECT:
Approval to increase the funding allowance for the Emergency Rehabilitation Strategy for SHIP/CDBG from $50,000 to $100,000 in the FY23-24 Annual Action Plan/LHAP.
SUMMARY:
In conformance with the CDBG Annual Action Plan (AAP) and SHIP LHAP, the City of Fort Pierce may provide Owner-Occupied Housing Repair / Rehabilitation funding through the CDBG/SHIP program for the upgrading of substandard owner-occupied housing units and to address code violations. The City shall award CDBG/SHIP owner-occupied repair / rehabilitation assistance to income eligible households on a first come, first served basis.
The CDBG Emergency Rehabilitation strategy of the FY23-24 Annual Action Plan was approved on August 15, 2023. Reports from inspections done during the last SHIP Rehabilitation Program cycle indicated that there were homes that exceeded the funded scope of the SHIP Rehabs requirement. In order to address the severity of the rehabilitation needs of Fort Pierce, we need to increase CDBG funding allowance for the Emergency Rehab Strategy.

RECOMMENDATION:

FISCAL IMPACT:
