Re
Accept Quote from Econolite Systems for Edaptive Traffic Control System
Submitted For:
John Andrews

SUBJECT:

Approval for of expenditure in the amount of $112,204.00 for the acquisition of an Edaptive Traffic Control System for the US 1 corridor from Fisherman's Wharf to Edwards Road.

SUMMARY:

Currently, US 1 (Fishermans Wharf to Virginia Avenue) is controlled by an "Adaptive" system which was implemented in 2018.  This system reacts and adjusts the timings of the traffic controllers based on the volume of traffic traveling on the main corridor.  This system is becoming obsolete, and we are proposing to upgrade the system utilizing Econolites's "Edaptive" Control system which offers increased features and benefits. Designed to optimize traffic flow and improve transportation efficiency, this upgrade will add three additional intersections south of Virginia Avenue to improve the functionality of the entire US 1 corridor.

This system is proprietary equipment and software from Econolite Systems who is considered a sole provider.  The total cost of the upgraded system and necessary video equipment totals $112,204.00

RECOMMENDATION:

ALTERNATIVES:
