SUBJECT:
Approval Indian River Mural Artist Service Agreement with Sean Coffey in the amount of $23,705.00 for a mural to be located on the west side of the wall along Northbound Indian River Drive, between Citrus Avenue and Atlantic Avenue.
SUMMARY:
In May 2024, a Call for Artists was issued for the creation of a mural along the wall, located on Indian River Driver, between Citrus and Atlantic avenues. After reviewing submissions in June, staff presented the mural design of the selected artist, Sean Coffey, to the Arts & Culture Board for consideration for the Art In Public Places initiative. The Arts & Culture Board first considered this site for a mural in 2020.
The selected artist, Sean Coffey, proposed creating a mural on City-owned property along the west side of Northbound Indian River Drive (County Road 707), starting near Citrus Avenue and ending near St. Andrew’s. The Arts & Culture Board worked closely with the artist to develop the final concept. Titled ‘Moving Through Time,’ Mr. Coffey’s mural will depict significant historical moments from Fort Pierce’s history. Mr. Coffey has agreed to proceed with the mural under an agreement with the City of Fort Pierce.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the artist service agreement.

The projected budget for this project is $23,705.00. The Art in Public Places restricted fund (100-1111-519-000-0000-549875) will be used to cover the costs associated with completing the Indian River Drive Mural.
