Resolution 24-R54  which authorizes a grant from FDLE for a Drone Replacement Program Financial Assistance

The Fort Pierce Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for the replacement costs of noncompliant drones, up to $25,000.00 for each drone. This agreement allows the Fort Pierce Police Department to purchase two additional drones for public safety operations at no cost to the city. The City Attorney has reviewed the terms and conditions of the Drone Replacement Program Financial Assistance Agreement and has drafted Resolution 24-R54. This resolution approves the agreement and designates the Chief of Police as the recipient chief official designee, giving the Chief of Police authorization to sign additional documents related to the agreement.

The recommendation is to approve resolution 24-R54 and have the City of Fort Pierce accept the grant on behalf of the Fort Pierce Police Department. 

The alternative would be to use City funds, approximately $50,000.00, to purchase two drone systems with the necessary software, attachments, batteries, chargers, etc.
