SUBJECT:
Approval of the Grant Agreement for Commercial Facade Improvement 110 S Ocean Dr
SUMMARY:
The intent of the Commercial Façade Grant Program is to significantly enhance the appearance of buildings and eliminate blight within the FPRA district. This program is designed to encourage redevelopment of the FPRA by enhancing its visual aesthetics, which will lead to increased property values, tenant occupancy, economic development, and job creation. The program offers financial assistance in the form of a reimbursable grant, matching 50% up to $25,000.
Fort Pierce Inlet Beach Resort, LLC has applied for funding to improve the façade of its property by recovering a 61’ x 23’ x 48” patio canvas awning, a 50’ x 6’ x 24” canvas awning, and replacing 10 clear roll-up curtains. The total estimated cost for these improvements is $39,165, with a grant request of $19,582.50.
The CRA Advisory Committee initially reviewed the application based on an estimated project cost of $28,540, recommending a reimbursement of $14,270. However, staff has since received an updated estimate of $39,165, reflecting the inclusion of 10 clear roll-up curtains, increasing the grant request to $19,582.50.
The application was evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Visual Impact/Blight Elimination – The project’s ability to enhance aesthetics and eliminate blight.
• Total Project Investment – A higher ratio of private investment to public grant funding results in a higher score.
• Design & Creativity – The innovation, architectural compatibility, sustainability, and longevity of the improvements.
• Community Impact/Public Benefit – The broader positive impact on the community and public.
A panel of three evaluators assessed the application, with each awarding up to 100 points, for a maximum possible score of 300.
The application for 110 S Ocean Drive – Fort Pierce Inlet Beach Resort, LLC scored 227 points.
Staff is now seeking approval of the Grant Agreement for the Commercial Façade project at 110 S Ocean Drive, submitted by Fort Pierce Inlet Beach Resort, LLC.
