SUBJECT:
Resolution 25-R57 Setting a Special Election to fill the vacant Commissioner seat of District 2, Seat 2.
SUMMARY:
Commissioner James A. Taylor, Jr. resigned from office effective August 2, 2025, thus creating a vacancy for District 2, Seat 2. Article III, Section 28, of the City Charter states: "At the time the vacancy occurs, if there is more than six (6) months before the next general election, a special election shall be set as early as legally possible and no temporary appointment shall take place".
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Resolution.
ALTERNATIVES:
Adopt the resolution with alternate election dates.
