- Approval for Interlocal Agreement: FPUA Direct Fiber Line from FPPD to St. Lucie E.O.C.
- Submitted For:
- Robert Ridle
SUBJECT:
Approval of an Interlocal Agreement between the City and Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) to provide direct fiber connection between the police department and the Saint Lucie County Emergency Operations Center.
SUMMARY:
Currently, the police department relies on a relayed fiber connection through Saint Lucie County Rock Road Operation Center to connect to the Emergency Operation Center. This requires the department to maintain a switch and be reliant on Saint Lucie's IT department for access to the county-wide Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System. With the separation of the Saint Lucie County IT from the Emergency Operations Center, we are required to establish a direct fiber connection to maintain operations. Our City has conducted additional research for fiber connections and determined that Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) can provide a direct fiber connection between the Police Department and the Emergency Operations Center. The Police Department, with the assistance of City Staff, have identified FPUA "Single Source" as the most cost-effective vendor with a cost of a $1500 connection fee and $1700 monthly fee. The agreement is for five years. This will be paid out of the Fort Pierce Police Department FY2024-2025 Budget from Communications line item 001.3002.541100 The City Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the Agreement. Terms and Conditions and the order form to move forward with the direct fiber connection.
