SUBJECT:
Resolution 26-R03 Establishing Auditor Selection Committee; selection of the Committee chair from among the Commission.
SUMMARY:
Section 218.391(2)(b), Florida Statutes, requires the governing body of a municipality to establish an Auditor Section Committee. Florida Statutes require that the Auditor Selection Committee consist of a minimum of three (3) members, which must include one (1) member of the Fort Pierce City Commission who will serve as the committee chair. Four (4) members of the Auditor Selection Committee will be appointed by City Commission provided they possess a general understanding of governmental financial reporting and auditing, as defined in Section 218.391, Florida Statutes and the City’s Finance Director and/or City Manager will serve as an advisor to the Auditor Section Committee.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt this resolution to establish the committee and select a member of the body to serve as its Chair.
ALTERNATIVES:
Delay formation of the Audit Committee.
