Approval of an Interlocal Agreement between St. Lucie County and the City of Fort Pierce for art conservation services in the amount of $36,487.50.
SUMMARY:
The City of Fort Pierce is asked to approve an interlocal agreement with St. Lucie County for the restoration of eight (8) County-owned public art sculptures currently displayed on City property. Once the repairs are complete, the County will officially transfer ownership of the eight (8) pieces, including two (2) additional pieces of public art, to the City of Fort Pierce. These sculptures have been part of the community for over a decade and were originally acquired through the County’s public art program.
Under the agreement:
- The County will oversee restoration work through a vendor selected via a competitive RFP process in 2025.
- Restoration includes assessment, cleaning, structural repairs, and preservation to professional conservation standards.
- Estimated City's shared cost for repairs: $36,487.50 (Total project cost: $72,975)
- Upon completion of repairs, ownership of the sculptures will transfer to the City of Fort Pierce.
- Estimated annual maintenance cost: $9,260 for routine inspection and upkeep of all sculptures. The City will need to identify a vendor through the competitive bid process for the continuing maintenance of the public art pieces.
